Beautiful memories captured in time with White Room Studio

Not all family pictures taken are the same. Yes you have your kids and your spouse come together wearing matching clothes to take some shots together in a nice setting. But the moment you compare the results of pictures taken with a random phone camera or just a simple point and shoot camera, and the ones taken by professional photographers and have the images cleaned up, the difference is just astounding.

A couple of months ago my family had a photoshoot done at White Room Studio and I was deeply impressed with the quality of this images and edits that I even got one of our family portraits printed on acrylic to be displayed in our living room.

After this very enjoyable family photoshoot that we did with White Room Studio, I was convinced that we need to make this an annual family activity especially with the kids growing up so fast in the early years.

This acrylic print of one of our favourite pictures taken during the family photoshoot now sits in our living room display case and always brings a smile t my face whenever I see it.

White Room Studio (established in 2009)

A boutique family-run photography studio located in a beautiful shophouse along River Valley with a unique natural light environment, this longstanding photography studio made us feel so welcome and comfortable that even my younger kids felt so at ease to get their pictures taken around the Peranakan shophouse studio by their experienced and jovial photographer.

Having won multiple awards over the years by several publications, you can be sure you won't be disappointed with the outcome of the pictures when you have your pictures taken here. They actually offer a range of shoots including:

- Family and Kids Photography

- Children Photography

- Graduation Photography

- Cake Smash Photography

- Newborn Photography

- Maternity Photography

- Pet Photography

- Glamour Photography

- Couple Photography

- Bridal Photography

- Corporate Photography

I can't rave enough about the interior of the shophouse studio especially with the big windows and balcony overlooking Fort Canning Park which allows plenty of warm natural light in. And with the high ceilings and original rustic wooden floorboards that have been around since 1927, you can imagine how beautiful it looks against the clean white walls.

They actually have 2 floors with a generous amount of space which we used for various backdrops during the shoot and even the changing room was spacious so you wont have to squabble for space when jumping in for a change of outfits with your kids.

The Photoshoot

On the day of the photoshoot we arrived in the morning in our choice of outfits and I got our whole family decked out in blue denim and a white top for the girls while the daddy wore a darker coloured top.

The whole session lasted for 1.5 hours and we didn't realise how fast time flew as we were having so much fun throughout the shoot.

We did our own hair and didn't require makeup but in case you booked a hairstyling and makeup service from the studio as well, then remember to arrive an hour earlier so you can get well prepared.

I love how White Room Studio encourages us to just be ourselves and avoid posing so that our true nature and unique self can shine. And the results were just what we wanted. Candid, real and maybe even goofy 😋  just the way we are.

With our experienced photographer Yan guiding us through the studio space to take various shots, we actually had a very good selection of pictures to choose from and I'm really grateful that she managed to capture so many of our smiling faces that were so candid and real.

The children and even my hubby and I had so much fun during the 90 minute session and these are just a few of our favourite shots that I'm sharing here.

In fact they take really good portrait shots for kids too.

Time waits for no man and when kids grow up there's really no way for us to turn back the clock to relive moments with our children. But a well taken picture can definitely get us close to that and bring back many fond memories.

Photo Selection

2 weeks after the photoshoot, I was invited down to their viewing location which happens to be right across the road from where the photography studio is. This is when I get to go through the edited images and select the ones I want. In fact I loved one of them so much that I got it turned into a Crystal Wall Display so we can see it everyday when we're at home. You can actually choose different material to have your images printed on here.

The viewing/collection location was just as cosy as the studio and I felt so welcome as I comfortable sat on the sofa to view the edited images one by one on a large TV screen. I also got to speak with Elaine the creative director of White Room Studio who struck me as a very sincere and down to earth person. She shared with me about the history of the place and I love how she connects with her clients whom I'm sure like me will come back again to have more memories captured beautifully in time.

Customizing your shoot

Although my family did the photo shoot at the iconic shophouse studio of White Room Studio, you can actually choose to have the photoshoot done outdoors or even at your own home.

They can also arrange for a professional makeup artist to do your makeup and make sure that you look your best for the shoot.

Like White Room Studio puts it.... Life is a Book of Stories. I hope your story is a beautiful one.
