Forest Adventure revamped and better than ever

Image
When we were given the opportunity to try out the newly revamped Forest Adventure, we jumped at it and it was the perfect activity to do together as we celebrated my second-born’s birthday. With a 40% expansion to its facility and 69 crossings, what’s most exciting about the revamp is how it now has an intermediary junior course that incorporates an on-going safety harness allowing adventurers to overcome the obstacles without adult supervision. So even my 6 years old got to attempt the crossings all by herself and being right behind her all the way, I could see her enjoyment grow tremendously as her confidence grew obstacle by obstacle.  We’ll definitely be back soon to try the other courses! Thank you @Forestadventuresg for making it such an amazing experience for our family.

Mass Blindfold Yoga with Trium Fitness

Image
Overflowing with gratitude and respect for everyone who came to join us at Blindfold Yoga this morning, organised by Trium Fitness at Aperia Mall. Teaching this class has definitely made me more conscious of giving precise and accurate verbal cues such that it guides everyone safely into position. If you’ve never tried to move around while blindfolded before, it can actually be quite scary and disorientating. But once you can get over the fear and trust your guide or those around you, you’ll realize that you’re actually developing your other senses in order to move and overcome obstacles. We start to become so much more in tune with our hearing and special awareness. The intention in holding this session that involved both the visually impaired and normal sighted individuals was more than just to experience a yoga class together as a community as we flowed through from one pose to the next and held hands on occasion to support one another. But it was mainly to bring awareness, respec...

The power of Propolis

Image
What is Propolis? And what’s so great about it?  If you’re ever down with a cold or having a really bad sore throat, this is one arsenal you’d want to have. Propolis is produced by bees and they use it to glue the materials of their hives together by mixing beeswax and other secretions of  resins from the buds of conifers and poplar trees. But truly it’s better used not just for the binding of hives but in the the treatment of burns, minor wounds, ulcers, Candida, infections, inflammations and even herpes.  For centuries, people have used Propolis as a remedy for acne, itching, tuberculosis and even cancer.  The reason why it’s used in this myriad of ailments is because Propolis is a proven antibiotic and antiseptic. It doesn’t just guard the beehive against intruders but is also used to treat unwanted health conditions because of its antomicrobial, antioxidative, anti-ulcer and anti-tumor properties.  Scientists have  found that bee Propolis actually conta...

Healthier eating for our children with The Goodness Gang

Image
Wellness isn’t just about being free from illness and disease. Being in optimal health requires us to be committed to a regular exercise regime and make better choices to our daily diet.  Better put, food really is like medicine and what we consume can either nurture us or cause harm along the way.  Multiple studies have shown how processed foods and diets high in sugar can even cause mental issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD and schizophrenia. With the right education and knowing how to eat healthily, it can make a huge difference to the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing for our children and ourselves. This month, Giant Singapore with the support of the Health Promotion Board  will be launching the Goodness Gang campaign to educate our little ones about the importance of healthy eating and to reinforce the message that consuming fruits and vegetables can be fun and tasty at the same time.

Appreciate the topsy turvy

Image
When we are in our comfort zone, that is when we also become complacent and too comfortable. But that is also when our growth and development slows down and we don’t feel the need to strive and learn more or improve in our performance or knowledge. Putting ourselves to the test or giving ourselves a challenge to overcome can very often allow us to discover something about ourselves that we’d otherwise never reveal if there wasn’t a need to breakthrough a situation or find a solution to something. I thoroughly enjoy looking at things from different perspectives and appreciate the topsy turvy situations when they arise because I’m pretty darn sure that I’ll learn something along the way that I don’t know yet. With a two years old who has been down with a cold for two days, two older kids who are taking their common tests and a 6 year old who needs a lot of attention, I do feel a little off balance especially when it’s a a packed week from morning till night for me with teaching, prep wor...

Where’s that teleporting machine?

Image
Some days can get so crazy when I’m juggling between work, teaching, meetings, managing the household and meeting the needs of my four babies and a dog. It literally can get quite hair-raising sometimes but whenever I think about the kids, all that craziness just disperses. No matter how busy I am during the weekdays I’d always make it a point to see the kids during the pockets of time that I have after they’re back from school and extra curricular activities. This means quite a fair bit of shuttling in my mommy-mobile and being on the road. And I’ve lost count how many times I just wished that we could teleport. This morning as I was driving to work, I saw yet another accident on the road and as the ambulance and tow truck drove past me towards the accident site, I just couldn’t help but wonder who was involved in that accident and if those involved have little kids waiting for them back home. I take good care of my wellbeing so that I can be there for my kiddos. But oh how I wish we ...

Working mom working out

Image
I always look forward to the weekend mornings because I get to workout with the cutest little distractions ever. Having kids has never made it such that I have no time to get my training done. In fact, they make it way more entertaining sometimes ❤️ . It is true that with children and having to work I don’t have very much ME time left. But when I do make the time to work out no matter how short the session may be, it always helps me feel more energized and infused with those happy hormones.  So to fellow moms, I know it always sounds daunting at first. But with a little time management and creativity, it’s always possible to spend a few minutes a few times each day to fit in some exercise and it’s more than just doing something for ourselves. We’re setting an example for the little ones too.

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2018

Image
Each time we celebrate the Chinese New Year, I’m always reminded of how important it is to regularly meet up with our family and relatives. That kampong spirit and sense of belonging never fails to fill my heart with a warm fuzzy feeling each time we go visiting and take turns gathering at one another’s homes. We put in effort to prepare meals and snacks for our visiting relatives and make sure everyone is comfortable and take pride in sprucing up our homes to welcome our guests. I actually think it’s such a great thing to do at least once a year to declutter and maybe change things around in our living space. CNY is also that time of the year when we get to wear our traditional cheongsam and follow certain traditional activities. It’s always such a joy being able to share about our culture and tradition not just with our little ones, but our friends from other cultures as well.  And one of my favorite things about celebrating CNY apart from the fact that we get to spend more time ...

Dressing up four daughters

Image
Ever since Large was born, I had always shopped at @mothercaresg for my babies daily needs and apparel. And even up till now I still enjoy shopping here for their clothes because I know the quality is good and the kiddos will be comfortable while wearing them. Now dressing up one daughter and stocking up her closet isn’t exactly a walk in the park. So with four daughters, I do have to make of an effort to ensure that they have comfortable and well-fitted clothes that they can enjoy their activities in and not worry about chafing , seams coming off or some form Olof wardrobe malfunction. . Thank you Mothercare for the beautiful outfits for my four girls that they truly enjoy running and lounging around in. . And it looks like I’m half prepared for the CNY visiting! I just need to get two more red dresses now! 😉. . #mothercaresg #Mothercare #ootd #sgkids #sgmom #fashionsg #bloggermom #momlife #sgfamily #thatmomoffour #kidsofinstagram #daughters #daughterlove #daughtersrock #kidsfa...

Healthy cooking made easier

Image
A good method to provide good nutrition to my family would be through healthy food! Being a working mom of four, it does become chaotic should any of my kids not feel well. Which is why I always try my best to nourish them and supplement their diets to ensure that their immune systems are rock solid. This means plenty of home-cooked meals that they girls and I enjoy eating such as our favorite pumpkin soup. I’ve even included the simple recipe below. And having nifty gadgets like the Braun Multi Quick9 saves me plenty of time when it comes to preparing meals so I get more play time with the children. As a very hands on mom in the kitchen, I’ve used many other hand blenders over the years but what’s so unique about the Multi Quick9 is the ACTIVEBlade technology that allows it to move up and down and easily blend the hardest foods with 40% less effort. And the flexible shaft results in 250% more active cutting surface to work with.  Anything that saves me time and yet delivers g...

Healthier munching this Chinese New Year

Image
*Media Drop* There are so many things I love about celebrating Chinese New Year. The company of loved ones as we share scrumptious festive meals, dressing up for the festivities, decorating the house to mark this special time of the year, watching the lion dance performances and of course the seasonal snacks!!! There’s all the typical Chinese New Year goodies like pineapple tarts, egg rolls, almond cookies, kueh bangkit, cocktail prawn rolls, love letters.... and the list goes on. But once in awhile, I get introduced some new goodies as we stock up on snacks to entertain family and friends who come to visit. And this year I’m definitely stocking up on treats from Amazin’ Graze!  I got to try out several of the snacks from amazin’ graze recently including their Love Letter Kaya Granola, Miso Szechuan Nut Mix, Haw Berry Brittle, Longan Macadamia Butter and the Tangerine Peanut Granola. What’s so unique about these innovative guilt-free snacks apart from the fact that healthier ingred...
